Richmond Volleyball Club Fights Infectious threats


Sports are great recreation and good for your general health.  However, more than a few sports facilities have concerns for infectious diseases.  Regardless of the nominal efforts of participants to wipe down equipment, virus and bacteria seem to persist.  Antimicrobial surface treatments are a kind of safety net that provides greater germ-inhibiting safeguards.


Recently, Richmond Volleyball Club took a proactive step in by engaging Re-Freshen to apply BioZone Protectant to their facility.  BioZone Protectant is becoming more accepted as a infection control effort that could prevent the spread of infections among all types of sports. 


We all know that falls, scrapes, and scratches open the door to some nasty infections and diseases.  When the courts, workout equipment, benches, and common areas are treated with BioZone Protectant there is a 24/7 germ-inhibiting program that critically injures pathogens and does not allow them to colonize on surfaces.  The spread of disease often occurs when an infected person touches, sweats on, lays on, or sneezes on a physical object.  Bacteria and viruses can live on the surface for days, and they can literally colonize by multiplication in the right conditions.  Gyms, locker rooms, work out areas, and restrooms are petri dishes for disease.


Wrestling mats have long been a common transfer point for ringworm, impetigo, folliculitis, mullusoum contagiosum, and herpes simplex.  And, it is not enough to occasionally wipe down mats and equipment with common sanitizers.  The fact is that a worker can clean an area ten minutes before, and an infected person could infect the same area for the remaining 23 hours and 50 minutes affecting the health of all who touch the same area.  This is not likely to happen when there is an antimicrobial surface treatment in place.  The reason is that the germ-inhibiting action is always on and active.

BioZone Protectant is applied to every type of surface, whether soft or hard.  It is non-toxic and non-transferring.  If a bacteria or virus is left on a protected surface, it lands on a serrated surface that quickly lacterates the other membrane of the bacteria, and it dies.  This infection control process is different from bleach and sanitizers that are chemical reactions lasting minutes.  BioZone Protectant is a mechanical action lasting for days, weeks, and months on the surface.
