Gentle East Martial Arts Fights Germs

Gentle East Taekwondo in Midlothian Virginia has taught martial arts for more than twenty years.  Taekwondo is a Korean form of martial arts that combines combat and self-defense techniques with sport and exercise.  In Korean, tae (태, 跆) means "to strike or break with the foot"; kwon (권, 拳) means "to strike or break with the fist"; and do (도, 道) means "way of life". Thus, taekwondo may be loosely translated as "the way of the foot and the hand.  The disciples of Taekwondo are five key words: courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self control, and indomitable spirit.

Master Robinson is the well-respected teacher at GEMA.  She has worked with Chris Gilson of Re-Freshen to bring a higher level of cleaning and sanitizing to the new facility.  With any sport, contact with mats and surfaces can provide the medium for bacterial transfer.  Even the cleanest gym, sports facilities, or schools donot solve the spread of disease.

Chris Gilson has treated the GEMA facility with BioZone Protectant to provide a unique form of protection to all parts of this facility.  While the cleanliness of the GEMA facility is excellent, sanitizing is a higher level of effort.  BioZone Protectant is a permanent treatment that provides a 24/7 germ-fighting protection.  So, while the students of GEMA perfect their skills, another fight happens on every treated surface.  BioZone Protectant tears the outer membrane of bacteria and virus so bacteria colonization is not possible.

Skin infections are often the cause of bacteria passed by casual contact.  While some may ignore the threat of sports facilities as potential infection transfer points, the staff at GEMA take a proactive approach to the safety of their facility.  So, parents have confidence that their children will not be exposed to uncontrolled infectious threats while they learn how to be a skilled Taekwondo practitioner.

Chris Gilson is a diligent advocate of sanitizing programs in the area as he works with gyms, day care centers, schools, nursing homes, restaurants, and offices to provide a germ-fighting program in place to protect those who live, play, and work in public places.  While many think that cleaning is the same as sanitizing, the reality is the rise of very aggressive diseases require a higher level of cleaning.  Sanitizing and germ-inhibiting programs are applied in addition to diligent cleaning programs to address the biofilm threat and constant introduction of pathogens in public areas.

A proactive approach to infection control requires an effort to sanitize the facility with a program that works constantly to impede infections.  BioZone Protectant is an environmentally-safe surface treatment that lasts three months after application to prevent the transfer of bacteria and viruses. To find out more about infection control, contact Chris Gilson at To find the finest Taekwondo program in Midlothian Virginia, visit or call Gentle East Martial Arts.
